Consumers'understanding ignores one of the biggest factors affecting the quality and future life of watches - the waterproof performance of watches. Looking at the current media reports, one of the most complaints consumers have about the quality of watches is that watches are not waterproof. Not to mention tens of yuan of land apportionment, it is hundreds of yuan of domestic brand watches, thousands of yuan of imported watches, tens of thousands of yuan of high-end watches, watches quality is affected by water inflow, and even machine scrapping occurs from time to time, bringing economic losses to consumers, but also to the product itself brand reputation loss. There are many factors leading to waterproof watches, but the key point is whether the watches meet the waterproof performance indicators when they are manufactured.
So, how do modern watches enterprises know whether watches have waterproof performance in the production process? According to the current international waterproof meter standard iso2281-1990 and the light industry waterproof meter standard qb/t1897-93 (the same as iso2281-1990), manufacturers must make watches with water temperature change and mechanical pressure resistance, air pressure resistance or water pressure resistance (air pressure and water pressure resistance). Water pressure can be chosen as one of the two) for testing, performance indicators meet the requirements of the standard, you can think of watches with waterproof performance, such watches are called waterproof meters. On the contrary, it can not be called a waterproof meter. The air pressure test is to place the watch in the container of the air pressure waterproof tester, and make the watch bear 2 bar (about 2 Atmospheric pressures) of air overpressure under atmospheric pressure. If the air leakage rate of the case is not more than 50 micrograms per minute, this indicator is qualified. The water pressure test is to place the watch in the water container of the water pressure waterproof tester (the watch is completely immersed in water). At normal pressure, the watch is subjected to 2 bars of pressure for 10 minutes, and then through condensation test to see if there is condensation fog on the glass of the watch to determine whether the water pressure resistance is up to the standard. Only from the point of view of the index, the waterproof performance of waterproof watches produced strictly in accordance with international standards is no problem. Because when people wear watches for daily activities (including leisure swimming), watches bear less than 0.5 bar of water-proof pressure, and the water-proof capacity of watches is quite large. But later experts found that some waterproof meters in the use of the process of water immersion phenomenon. One reason is the use of watches. For example, watches have been used for a long time, which has exceeded the shelf life of waterproof performance. Watches are engaged in diving or intense underwater sports. Watches are shocked by external forces. Watches are dismantled and assembled, such as maintenance of watches and battery replacement. On the other hand, air pressure resistance test is only similar to water pressure performance test, and is not exactly the same test. After all, the media of the two test environments are the same. Essentially different, the air leakage of the pressure test is not equal to the water leakage of the water pressure test. Waterproof meters that have only been tested for air pressure resistance will not be problematic if they are placed in water for a short time, but if they are placed in water for a long time, it is not guaranteed that water immersion will not occur. In view of various reasons, the member countries of ISO (China is an important member of this organization) have agreed to amend the current international waterproof meter standards and add "insurance" to waterproof meters.
At present, member states are negotiating on the amendment of international standards. Most member states propose to add the following three "insurance" contents:
1. Change the water pressure resistance test from selective test to compulsory test.
2. Increase the pressure of water pressure test from 2 bar to 3 bar.
3. The time of immersion test (placing the watch in 10 + 2 cm deep water) was prolonged from 1 hour to 4 hours.
If the above-mentioned "insurance" content is passed and becomes an international standard, the waterproof performance of watches manufactured according to the new standard will be improved, and the shelf life of watches will also be extended. Then, consumers should pay more attention to waterproof when choosing watches. Waterproof, can protect the value of your watch; not waterproof, may soon make your watch value drift.
