How to maintain high-end watches?

- Apr 08, 2019-

Watches have a long history of development. A famous watch can be said to be a symbol of fashion success and identity.

In order to make the watch last longer, you need to take good care of your watch. How to maintain it?

I. [Waterproof]

Waterproof grade of watches is generally divided into non-waterproof (no mark on the back of the watch), waterproof (SWEAT-RESISTANT), general waterproof (WATER-RESISTANT), 30-meter waterproof (30M, 3ATM, 3BAR), 50-meter waterproof (50M, 5ATM, 5BAR), diving table 100-meter waterproof, 200-meter waterproof, 300-meter waterproof and so on. But the premise of the above standard is to test under laboratory conditions: the temperature is kept between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius, and the watch and water are in a static state.

In our daily life, 30 meters in the waterproof standard are only waterproof splash, and can be worn to wash hands and face; 50 meters in the waterproof standard can be washed with a small amount of cold water and can not be immersed; 100 meters in the waterproof standard can be used on the surface of swimming pool or sea water; only 200 meters in the waterproof standard can be used for diving.

And remember one more thing! No waterproof meter can be used in hot water bath, sauna bath and environment with great temperature change. Because the waterproof rubber ring is affected by temperature, it will expand and shrink in heat, and accelerate ageing, which will cause water condensate in the water intake and the meter, which will seriously damage the machine parts.

2. [Adjustment]

Watches with simple functions such as time, minutes and seconds can be adjusted at any time, but watches with calendar, calendar, week, moon phase, calendar and more complex functions should not be adjusted between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. the next day. This time period calendar function is in operation. At the same time, when gear teeth engagement is low, frequent actions will damage the internal parts of the wrist watch, which is referred to as "sweeping teeth" in professional terms, and will cause irreversible damage to the wrist watch.

3. [Watchband]

In summer, wear belt wristwatch as little as possible, because sweating will cause the belt to adhere to the wrist, making the wearer uncomfortable, and the sweat stain on the belt is extremely difficult to clean. Long-term wear will not only produce odor, but also make the watch band deformation, hardening and even fracture. Steel straps are easy to slip if they are sweaty. If your watch is waterproof beyond 50 meters, you can wash the sweat by washing the strap under the tap. For rubber belt, not afraid of water but afraid of oil, the material will gradually harden, fracture, and is an irreversible process.

4. [Upper String]

Unlike automatic winding watches and quartz watches, mechanical watches need to be winding regularly in order to ensure the normal operation of watches. For some watches with complex designs such as calendar, calendar, week and moon, it should be avoided to adjust the upper chord between 10 p.m. and 3 p.m. during which time the calendar, calendar, week and month are in the stage of triggering changes, at which time the upper chord will damage the parts of the watch. Watch upper chord should not be too full, usually up to 90% of the upper chord.

V. [Error]

Watches are mostly made of stainless steel. Stainless steel watches are most afraid of magnetic field, so they are used as far away from magnetic field as possible. There are many common sources of magnetic field in life, such as mobile phones, computers, automatic mahjong machines, doors, bags and buckles, etc. Once the watch is magnetized carelessly, it will cause errors. Degaussing is the only solution.

You can get it to the watchmaker. Without opening the cover, you can use the demagnetizer to demagnetize it directly. It can make the watches return to normal in 2 seconds. If conditions permit, you can find a piece of iron with a circle shape in the middle and no magnetization, stand on the table, wear the watch slowly from the iron circle, the magnetism on the watch will be absorbed by the iron block; you can also put the watch on a clean iron plate without magnetization, so that the magnetism of the watch will gradually disappear after two days.

6. [Storage]

Watches can not be stored casually without wearing them. They need to be kept in a safe environment. Wardrobe is by no means a good place for wrist watch. Camphor balls in it can deteriorate the watchoil and lead to inaccurate travel time. Computer desks and TV cabinets make nearby electronic devices magnetize wristwatches, which is not a good place. At this time, the packing box is the best preservation material when purchasing the watch. It is suggested that the packing box should be retained when purchasing the watch, so that it can be used to save the watch in the future.

Under conditional conditions, wrist watches can be stored by purchasing a meter changer, which can automatically identify and control the form of the upper chain (one-way or two-way), the speed of the upper chain and the time limit of the upper chain of the automatic table by inputting the brand model. It may also automatically determine the time ratio of the upper chain and the sleeping chain according to the characteristics of the watch core, so as to keep the machine core in a reasonable state without wear and tear. Large, will not run out of power and stop; non-magnetic motor will not overheat locally and make the core magnetized; automatic charging and power-off protection device.

7. [Warm Tips]

1. Watches are damp. Dry cotton can be pressed on the watches and baked with 40 Watt light bulbs for 5 minutes. The moisture in the watches can all be evaporated. Do not bake the watches directly near the fire, so as not to cause the watches to be warmed and deformed. But if there is water stain on the inside of the mirror or the dial, it must be dealt with by professional organizations.

2. Wrist scratches can be made by first dropping a drop or two of clear water on the dial, then squeezing a bit of toothpaste to wipe off the scratches and make the dial shiny as new. Remember to choose toothpaste without particles.
